Atlantic City, NJ, Cops: Two Arrested, Two Guns Seized in Two Incidents
Cops in Atlantic City say two people are in trouble with the law following two separate incidents in the city recently.
The first happened on October 14th when, according to the Atlantic City Police Department, their detectives were investigating a report of a man with a shotgun. Cops say they,
"observed Stacey Davenport riding his bicycle in the 800 block of Maryland Avenue carrying a tactical style bag. The detectives stopped Davenport and he was arrested after a loaded shotgun was found inside the bag. Davenport was also found in possession of a small amount of heroin and cocaine."
57-year-old Stacey Davenport of Atlantic City was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, certain person not to possess a weapon, possession of CDS (two counts).
Then, last Saturday morning at around 6:00, officers responded to an apartment building on the first block of North Boston Avenue for a report of a man who was trespassing. In this case, officers learned that 27-year-old Jonathan Anderson of Atlantic City was sitting in a hallway charging his phone and he allegedly had a gun. A press release states they eventually found Anderson, who had a gun in the pocket of his sweatshirt, and he was arrested.
Anderson was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, certain person not to possess a weapon, and criminal trespassing.
Both men were remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
