Brigantine City Council made it official on Wednesday night - there will be a crackdown on bad behavior at Cove Beach.

According to the Press of Atlantic City, Brigantine City Council voted unanimously to make changes to an ordinance allowing stricter enforcement at the Cove, the popular stretch of beach in Brigantine's south end.

Cove Beach is a popular spot to drive to the water's edge and for boaters to anchor just offshore.

This past summer, complaints of large parties, fighting, excess noise and littering at the Cove became commonplace.

Changes in the ordinance will allow police to check coolers and limit overcrowding on the beach. The city also plans to increase parking permit fees at the Cove.
