Effective immediately, the Diocese of Camden is suspending all masses as the nation tackles the growing coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement, Bishop Dennis Sullivan says public weekday masses are not to be held even if attendance is fewer than fifty since, generally speaking, it is the older faithful who are most vulnerable that usually attend.

In addition, events like weddings, funerals, and baptisms may occur as long as attendance does not exceed Gov. Murphy's guidelines of 50 people.

Bishop Sullivan says,

I have asked our pastors to find ways of communicating with parishioners on a regular basis during this time of crisis and separation from our communal spiritual lives. Providing prayer lines; social media gatherings; regular information and such can help people, many of whom may feel isolated.

As difficult as it seems right now, it is vitally important that the Catholic faithful follow the directives of the civil authorities related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The people of South Jersey and the world remain in my prayers.

The Diocese of Camden has developed a list of parishes that will live stream mass on their website.
