Gunfire erupted during the third quarter of the Pleasantville vs. Camden game, injuring several people and claiming the life of a 10-year-old boy.

On Tuesday, Atlantic County's head prosecutor Damon Tyner praised the actions not only of the first responders, but of the citizens who tried to quell the chaotic scene.

Atlantic County Detective and nurse Nina Mitchell, off duty at the time, told 6abc.com she ended up helping the helping a 27-year-old victim, the man police say was the intended target of the shooting.

Pleasantville Police Officer Jon-Marshall Robinson apprehended the shooter, Alvin Wyatt, by a goal post near the school's tennis courts.

Tyner stated, "Without that swift action, without that collaboration, we simply would not have been able to wrap this case up as swiftly as we did on that evening."

Wyatt now faces two counts of attempted murder. The attempted murder charge regarding 10-year-old Micah Tennant has now been upgraded to murder in the wake of his death Wednesday.

On behalf of Rock 104.1, we thank all the first responder men and women that were at the school that night. It could not have been an easy thing to witness, but you persevered, and that's why we're always so grateful for you.
