Gun vs. Hammer: Fight Leads to Weapons Charges in Wildwood
There's an old saying that you don't bring a knife to a gunfight. The same probably applies to hammers.
Luckily, in this case, police reported no injuries from either alleged weapon-wielding suspect.
Cops in Wildwood say Monday afternoon at about 4:00, they received a 911 call reporting a person with a gun in the 300 block of West Taylor Avenue.
Responding officers learned that during the course of an argument, 30-year-old Ronald Brinkley of Wildwood retrieved a gun from a home while 38-year-old Stanley Warner of Villas armed himself with a hammer that he got out of a vehicle.

Police say before they got to the scene, "Brinkley discarded the firearm in the residence and Warner returned the hammer to the vehicle. Both subjects remained on scene and they were ultimately detained by police."
Authorities executed a search warrant at the home and on the vehicle and they recovered a loaded 9mm handgun and the hammer.
Brinkley was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun / second degree) and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose (handgun / second degree). He was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center.
Warner was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon (hammer / fourth degree) and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose (hammer / third degree). Warner was released on a summons.
Authorities remind the public that charges are accusations and all persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
