Report: New Jersey Is One Of America’s Laziest States (Do You Agree?)
Have you ever read something and immediately thought to yourself, "There's no way that's true?" That's what I thought when I saw where New Jersey ranked on the list of hardest-working states.
NJ's Ranking On The Hardest-Working States may surprise you
A new report compares each state to find out who has the hardest working citiznes, and who has the least hard-working citizens, and it compared things like average workweek hours, the employment rate, idle youth hours (young adults that don't have a job), as well as volunteer hours and average leisure time spent each day.
Given those metrics, I would have thought Jersey would rank pretty high as far as hard-working states go, with the exception of leisure hours; we do like a good day at the beach!
What Are The Hardest Working States In America
South Dakota, North Dakota, and Alaska ranked as the three hardest-working states in the country. They're tough places to live, and it breeds hard-working Americans; I get that.

This is what surprised me: the 3 least-hard-working states are Michigan, Oregon, and New Jersey.

New Jersey Is Actually An Incredibly Hard-Working State
I don't know about you, but I put in well over 40 hours a week at my main job, and then another 10-20 a week with my cover band jobs. Plus, most people I've met while living in Jersey are some hard-working folks!
And if you walk along the boardwalk, or go to any restaurant, food store, or retailer in the state, odds are some 16- to 24-year-old kid is working there; even our youth are hard workers.
While I'll admit we do like our leisure time, I don't think we're one of the least-hard-working states in the country. Or maybe I'm biased.
