In New Jersey, It’s Not Just a Roller Coaster Ride; It’s a Phobia!
Certainly, we all harbor our own individual fears, don't we? In my case, it's unequivocally Ophidiophobia, commonly known as the fear of snakes. I have an unwavering aversion to anything related to them – no sightings, no physical contact, and no proximity. Fortunately, living here it seldom brings me face-to-face with these serpentine creatures.
As Halloween approaches, a well-executed survey by Casino.org has uncovered the most common fears in each state.
Leading the pack is Acrophobia – the dreaded fear of heights. This vertigo-inducing phobia reigns supreme in a staggering 21 states. In these regions, one would scarcely encounter daredevils scaling skyscrapers, strolling on rooftops, or indulging in the thrill of roller coasters.
A close second is Social Phobia, which essentially revolves around the fear of social gatherings. It holds the top position in Alaska, Minnesota, Utah, and North Carolina.
Now, moving on to the third-place source of trepidation – Arachnophobia, the fear of those eight-legged, hair-raising spiders. This particular fear dominates in Maryland, Illinois, South Dakota, Nevada, and Vermont.
We find a tie for the fourth position between the fear of failure, the fear of death, the fear of injections, and my fear of snakes.
For those of us residing in New Jersey, our collective dread happens to be none other than Acrophobia – the fear of heights. So, it seems Ferris wheel rides are not on the agenda for us here in the Garden State.
