Eagles’ Barkley Visits, Eyes Investing in Atlantic City Project
Philadelphia Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley spent the day in Atlantic City on Thursday, touring Bader Field and considering getting involved with the DEEM Enterprises $3.4 billion development for the former airfield.
The Super Bowl champ also met with super Eagles fan, Marty Small, and visited the mayor's home and his Eagles man cave.
I saw the photos of his visit to Small's house on Instagram.
I knew Marty was a big Eagles fan, but I had no idea he had a shrine to the Eagles in his basement, so we know it was a 'great day' for him. Hopefully, Saquon felt the same way.
Here's what Marty had to say on Instagram...
Today I had the honor of hosting 2K Say SaQuon Barkley @saquon in my City, My Office and My Home. Attorney Dan Gallagher who’s heading The Bader Field Project had him in town to discuss the project and to get him on board. Let’s say it was Truly a GREAT Day
Will Saquon Barkley Invest in Atlantic City?
AI told me that Saquon Barkley has made over $63 million playing NFL football, plus the $10 million or so he makes doing endorsements each year.
Saquon is just the kind of guy the city is looking for as an investor in the planned 'Renaissance at Bader Field' project that the DEEM website says "would redefine Atlantic City with a fusion of luxury seaside living, motorsport entertainment, retail, and wellness".
At this point, though, you really have to use your imagination to envision all those things at Bader Field, the 140-acre former airfield that seems like it's about two weeks overdue to have the grass cut every time I see it.
So, how did things go on the Saquon tour?
Mayor Small told the Press of Atlantic City that Saquon told him he is looking for ways to get involved in AC.
"He wants to do things here in Atlantic City. It's our job to get people here to be ambassadors. I showed him the man cave, and he signed his Fathead. We just had a good time."
