Police in Middle Township are investigating a case of animal cruelty after finding a mutilated goat on a property in Cape May Court House.

Goat Mutilated on Halloween

According to a Facebook post, Middle Township Police were called to a home on Shunpike Road in the Cape May Court House section of Middle Township for a report of animal cruelty.

When police arrived they saw a dead goat that had been mutilated. Police say the incident happened sometime on Halloween, sometime Thursday night.

A Neighbor's Account

A post on Facebook from a person claiming to be a neighbor gave more details.

The suspect cut off the the goats ears, as well as took portions of meat, leaving the remainder of the body in the field with the other animals. The suspect is believed to have had access to the property via the bike path between the hours of 11 pm and 8 am, on Halloween night.

 

An Investigation By Major Crimes Unit

Middle Township Police say their Major Crimes Unit is conducting an investigation. They say it is unknown if the suspect or suspects fled the scene of the crime on foot or in a vehicle.
