Three New Jersey Breweries Win Awards For Best Brews In the United States
For years, I have been telling people that some of the best craft beer anywhere in the United States can be found in New Jersey. Just in Cape May County, there are 11 Craft Breweries and Hammonton has three of their own too.
Earlier this year, 18 Craft Brewing Companies located in South Jersey received awards from Untapped as part of their annual Community Awards for Craft Beers. What was once just a niche Adult Beverage over a decade ago now accounts for 13.3 Percent of Beer Sales in America.
In New Jersey, Craft Beer is the 16th largest industry in the state with approximately $1.762 Million in Sales in 2023. While many of New Jersey's Craft Breweries are unknown to people outside the state, many of these small businesses are beloved by the locals in their communities.
What Awards Did New Jersey Craft Breweries Win?
In 2204, the United States Open Beer Championship had to review 9,000 Beers that represented over 170 styles of Craft Brewing. This is the 15th Year for the US Open Beer Championship which was hosted in the state of Ohio this year.
Among the numerous submissions in the different Craft Beer Categories, three New Jersey brewers walked away with awards from the US Open Beer Championship:
*Bucket Brigade Brewery
Located on Route Nine South in Cape May Court House, this amalgamation of Classic Brewery and Modern Microbrewing received three awards. Bucket Brigade received a Gold Medal in the Specialty Pale Ale category for their Sum Puddin' Banana Pale Ale.
The Cape May Court House Brewery also received a Bronze Medal in the Imperial Stout Specialty Category for their Wipe Out Russian Imperial Stout. They also received a Silver Medal in the Root Beer – Adult category for their Big Wave Brew.
*Cape May Brewery
The oldest of Cape May County's Craft Breweries is located within a ten-minute drive from The Wildwoods and Cape May Island. Cape May Brewing Company received a Bronze Medal in the Imperial India Pale Ale Category for their Hazy Dawn DIPA.
*Toms River Brewing
This six-year-old Brewery is located on Route 37 halfway between Lakehurst and the heart of Toms River. They won a Gold Medal in the Pink Boots Hop Blend Category for their Hear Us Roar American IPA.
