Eagles’ Haason Reddick comments on trade request
On Sunday before the Super Bowl it was reported by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network that the Eagles had given permission to edge rusher Haason Reddick to seek a trade.
Now Reddick has commented on the report and says that its not exactly true.
Reddick took to social media to confirm a report from veteran NFL reporter Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report, who said Reddick wants to stay in Philadelphia.
“I would like to get an extension done here at home. At no point did I ever tell the organization I want to be traded,” Schultz posted on Twitter/X.
Reddick added in social media post: "Never asked for a trade. However, I do understand its a business. Preparing for whatever is next!"
The thought here is Reddick didn't physically ask for a trade, but likely wants more money and the team said, if you can find a team willing to give you more money, we'll listen to what they have to offer.
I don't think this is a situation where the Eagles want to get rid of Reddick, but are likely leery of giving a player who will be 30 years old an extension.
Reddick is coming off a season where he notched 11 sacks after a 16-sack 2022 season. He battled a thumb injury at the start of the season, and didn't pick up his first sack until Week 4. he also didn't record a sack during the final four weeks of the season.
