Authorities in Atlantic City say two women are facing charges after assaulting two workers at a store, trashing the business, and then stealing chips and cigarettes.

The scene unfolded around 2 AM this past Wednesday at a convenience store in the 1700 block of Atlantic Avenue.

Officers Latray Butcher and Robert Reynolds arrived and made contact with two store employees who reported they were assaulted and robbed by two females who were not on scene. The officers observed the store had sustained extensive damage as a result of the physical altercation. The officers then learned that the females stole several packs of cigarettes and bags of potato chips before exiting the store and entering a vehicle. A description of the female suspects, the vehicle, and the license plate information was broadcasted city wide to patrol units.

Less than 15 minutes later, officers located that vehicle in the 300 block of North Tennessee Avenue.

Two of the female passengers, Scotteara Newmones and Se'Aira Dixon, were detained for investigative purposes. Newmones and Dixon were positively identified as the suspects involved in the robbery and were taken into custody without incident. It was also determined Newmones threw a coffee pot at one of the employees during the altercation and was additionally charged.

30-year-old Scotteara Newmones of Atlantic City has been charged with,

  • Robbery
  • Unlawful possession of a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose
  • Simple assault
  • Criminal mischief

26-year-old Se’Aira Dixon of Atlantic City was charged with,

  • Robbery
  • Simple assault
  • Criminal mischief

Newmones and Dixon were remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
