
Burlington County, NJ, Man Charged, 340,000 Child Porn Files Found, Prosecutors Say
A Burlington County man has been arrested for allegedly having an astonishing number of child porn files.
Eastampton Man Arrested on Child Pornography Charges
69-year-old Lawrence Bayern of Eastampton was arrested on April 29th. He's been charged with first-degree possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
The Burlington County Prosecutor's Office says when Bayern was taken into custody at his home, multiple electronic devices were seized during the execution of a search warrant.
Over 340,000 Illegal Files Allegedly Discovered
According to authorities,
While scouring storage drives and a cell phone, investigators discovered that Bayern was in possession of more than 340,000 images and videos depicting the sexual exploitation or abuse of a minor.
As a result, the CSAM possession charge against Bayern was upgraded to a first-degree offense.
Detention Hearing and Legal Proceedings Pending
A detention hearing will be held soon in Superior Court. The case will then be prepared for presentation to a grand jury for possible indictment.
An investigation began after law enforcement officials received information from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children concerning Bayern’s online activities. It was conducted by the Prosecutor’s Office, with assistance from the Eastampton Township and Mount Laurel Police Departments.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
