According to the Atlantic City Police Department, on July 7th of that year, Kye Hardison entered a room on the twelfth floor of the hotel without permission. The victim, a 61-year-old housekeeper, opened the door and saw Hardison inside. Soon after, he forced the woman into the room and sexually assaulted her, per police.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says this past September following a six-day jury trial, Hardison was convicted of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault, and second-degree burglary.

Those convicted of first-degree aggravated sexual assault are typically sentenced to 10 to 20 years, however, "due to Hardison’s extensive criminal history, and the particularly egregious nature of this sexual assault," the State sought a longer prison term.

A judge agreed and Hardison was sentenced to 54 years behind bars. He must serve at least 85 percent of his term before becoming eligible for parole.

Upon release, Hardison would be subject to Megan’s Law and parole supervision for life.

The case was investigated by the Atlantic City Police Department with the assistance of the Claridge security team and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit.
