If you have been wondering when the more than two-year-long COVID-19 struggle will go from pandemic to endemic, the Cape May County, New Jersey Board of Commissioners has made a determinative decision.

Cape May County will no longer be doing daily public updates of COVID-19 statistics.

“Health Officials will continue to track cases and will alert the public if there are developments of concern,” said the Cape May Board of Commissioners in a written public statement.

As the Omicron variant wanes, even the most liberal cities, counties, and states in America are ending face mask mandates and other onerous curbs that have long been in effect.

Cape May County, “recently saw a day where no resident was in our hospital for Covid-19. We have seen many days in the past two weeks with single digits of reported new covid cases.”

Cape May County acknowledges that Covid-19 is likely to persist as a respiratory disease for many years to come.

“We must be diligent in protecting our most vulnerable. Cape May County is moving off of a crisis footing when it comes to Covid.”

They have asked their citizens to “protect your loved ones.” They are still urging all to get both vaccinated and boosted and to get tested for COVID-19 if you have any concerns.

Although daily public updates will end, the same information will be available at Capemaycountynj.gov.

“The County Commissioners wish to thank all the residents of Cape May County for the hard work they have done, and continue to do, to protect our most vulnerable and help County get through the pandemic.”
