
Daughter of Atlantic City Mayor & Wife Testifies Against Them
The stakes were high yesterday in New Jersey Superior Court Judge Bernard DeLury’s courtroom.
The fate of the Atlantic City Mayor and Schools Superintendent … Marty and La’Quetta Small was hanging in the balance. It’s a living nightmare for a family … when one family member was preparing to testify against her own parents.
The moment of truth had arrived … would the Mayor and Superintendent’s daughter take the stand and testify against them?
The Answer Is Yes … She Did!
The minor child testified that she gave her boyfriend permission to record disagreements with her parents, while he listened to the arguments in real time.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office alleges that the arguments also turned violent.
The Goal Of The Hearing Was To Suppress Evidence
Marty and La’Quetta Small were in court yesterday to try and make the case that these recordings should not be allowed to be heard at their upcoming trials.
The Small daughter allegedly provided the IPad to her boyfriend, that he used to make the recordings.
Marty & La’Quetta Small Were Indicted In April, 2024
The charges are disturbing in nature, including that Marty Small beat his daughter unconscious with a broom.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office alleges that the Small daughter reported claims of abuse to several people at Atlantic City High School.
Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small Faces Additional Serious Criminal Indictment for:
Alleged terroristic threats and witness tampering. The state of New Jersey is in possession of recordings that reportedly memorialize verbal arguments and some that escalated to violence.
Attorneys for Marty and La’Quetta Small are attempting to have the recordings thrown out because they contend that proper consent to record was not given.
Boyfriend Confirms The Plan In Open Court
The boyfriend, (whose identity has never been revealed), is only referred to as “E.L.”
The boyfriend confirmed that this was their plan, to document the abuse that tte Small daughter was the victim to.
”E.L.” will provide additionally testimony this Thursday.
Recordings Are The Most Important Evidence
The boyfriend’s recordings are critical to both sides in this case.
If Marty and La’Quetta Small succeed in suppressing these recordings, it would be a huge win for them.
Should Judge DeLury admit the evidence, it contains some of the most damaging evidence against Marty and La’Quetta Small.
Interesting Split Decision Between Marty and La’Quetta Small Has Developed
La’Quetta Small wants a separate trial from her husband.
Marty Small appears to want their trials to be combined as one.
DeLury approved La’Quetta Small’s request for a separate trial from her husband.
Marty Small has not officially challenged Judge DeLury’s decision, however, he appears to be against it.
