Charges have now been filed against a man from Vineland nearly one year after an accident that killed two people.

The Vineland Police Department says 27-year-old Malexus Coleman is now facing two counts of death by auto and two counts of violation of law intended to protect public health and safety.

It was just before 7:00 on the morning of February 10th, 2023, when Vineland police responded to the area of South Delsea Drive and College Drive for a report of a crash between two vehicles.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Coleman was driving a Dodge Durango southbound on South Delsea Drive when it struck a Ford Taurus which was headed in the other direction and attempting to make a left turn onto College Drive.

As a result of the crash, both occupants in the Taurus, 76-year-old Gary R. Lawson (driver) and 73-year-old Diane S. Lindquist, both from Millville, were killed.

In a press release on Wednesday, the Vineland Police Department did not indicate why one year had passed between the time of the accident and charges being filed.

Coleman was placed on a summons and released pending a court hearing in Bridgeton Superior Court.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
