Authorities are investigating a "suspicious" fire at a leasing office for an apartment complex in Camden County.

Fire Breaks Out at Apartment Office

The Gloucester Township Police Department says just before 2:30 early Saturday morning, first responders were called to the Lakeview Apartments leasing/management office off of Lower Landing Road in Blackwood for a fire/burglar alarm activation.

Arriving firefighters observed heavy fire conditions from the unoccupied office and they requested additional fire suppression assets as a second alarm was struck.

The fire was placed under control at about 3:45 AM, and they dealt with hot spots until around 5:45. While this was a significant structure fire, there was no extension or damage to any of the residential apartment complexes. There were no reported injuries to any civilians or firefighters.

Cause of Fire Considered Suspicious

Officials say the cause of the fire is unknown and is suspicious in nature. An ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Gloucester Township Police Department in collaboration with the NJ Division of Fire Safety, Camden County Fire Marshal's Office, Chews Landing Fire Marshal and Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

The following fire departments assisted at the scene: Chews Landing, Blackwood, Blenheim, Glendora, Erial, Magnolia, Bellmawr, Runnemede, Lindenwold, Somerdale, and Cherry Hill.

Anyone who witnessed the fire or has information that may assist investigators is urged to contact the Gloucester Township Police Department at (856) 228-4500. Anonymous tips are welcome.
