An Ocean County man has admitted to robbing a pharmacy at knifepoint in 2022 and now potentially faces over a decade behind bars.

Christopher Hurley of Little Egg Harbor, NJ

Authorities say on Monday, 27-year-old Christopher Hurley of Little Egg Harbor pleaded guilty to robbery and when he is sentenced in June, the State will seek a term of 12 years in prison.

On February 5th, 2022, officers with the Berkeley Township Police Department responded to Rite Aid on Route 9 for a report of an armed robbery.

An investigation determined a man, later identified as Hurley, entered the store, brandished a knife at the cashier, and demanded money.

Workers handed over a cash drawer and he fled the area.

Already in Jail

As their work in the case progressed, Berkeley Township detectives learned that Hurley had been arrested by Toms River Township police officers on an unrelated charge on February 22nd of that year and was being held in the Ocean County Jail. While in custody, he was served charges in connection to the Rite Aid robbery.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer thanked the Berkeley and Toms River Township Police Departments, the Ocean County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit, and the Ocean County Sheriff's Office, for their work in this case.
