Prosecutor: Cape May County, NJ, School Worker Abused Student
A Cape May County Special Services School District employee has been arrested for allegedly abusing a student.
Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland's office says 55-year-old Gary Murray of Woodbine has been charged with one count of fourth-degree child abuse and neglect and one count of simple assault, a disorderly persons offense.
Authorities say last month, an investigation began after they received information about "an incident of physical abuse" that occurred at the Cape May County Special Services School District involving a juvenile student victim.
Further information about exactly what may have happened between Murray and the student was not released.
Following their work, police arrested Murray on Monday. He was released on a summons after being processed.

Those convicted of a fourth-degree crime in New Jersey are subject to up to 18 months in state prison.
The public is reminded that charges are allegations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
