Serious Injuries: Teen Hit By Car While Exiting School Bus in Hamilton Twp., NJ
A 15-year-old boy was seriously injured when he was hit by a car as he exited a school bus Monday evening in Hamilton Township.
Authorities say the accident happened just before 5:45 PM on Somers Point-Mays Landing Road near Old River Road.
According to an investigation by the Hamilton Township Police Department, 79-year-old Richard Brownell of Selbyville, DE, was driving a Honda Civic southbound on Somers Point-Mays Landing Road when he struck a 15-year-old boy as he got off of a school bus.
The Sheppard School Bus was being driven by 60-year-old Renee Myers of Millville, who was stopped in the northbound lane.
Police say the juvenile sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Cooper Hospital in Camden.
No summonses have been issued at this time, however, the investigation is ongoing into bus operator procedures as well as any potential violations by either motorist.
