Just look at the photo above.

Every one of the six cars that you can see in the right hand lane is driving in the designated bicycle lane. It’s illegal, wrong and dangerous.

It’s only a matter of time. Someone is going to get hurt or worse.

This dangerous configuration is known as The Atlantic City “Road Diet.”

Some “genius” (dripping with sarcasm) Thought that it was a great idea to take four lanes that were working perfectly for generations… And, turn it into a 2-lane roadway, with a dedicated bicycle lane.

Just like we predicted from the beginning, we advised that cars would use the far right hand lane, that is designated for bicycles only… And use it as a driving lane.

Immediately below is a photograph that I took during my own field test on January 1, 2024. You can clearly see a car driving in the bicycle lane.

And, also, as we predicted, bicycles will continue to ride in the middle of the road… Which is now more dangerous than ever because there was is only one lane for cars in each direction.

The “Road Diet” is the idea of Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small.

It has been universally rejected by every single major Atlantic City share holder, including:

  • Atlantic City Casinos
  • AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center
  • Atlantic City business community

There is no way for stores to receive deliveries.

The “Road Diet” is a ticking time bomb.

This scheme is being discontinued in other parts of Atlantic City … it’s time to repaint the affected lives and turn Atlantic Avenue back into a 4-lane roadway.

Today, we observed 6 cars in-a-row using the bicycle lane to drive (see below):
