
72-year-old Vineland, NJ, Man Killed, 2 Others Hurt in Weekend Crash

Fatal 2-vehicle Crash in Cumberland County
Two people were hurt and a 72-year-old man was killed in a crash in Cumberland County over the weekend.
Details of the Accident
The Vineland Police Department says that at about 6:50 Sunday morning, August 24th, their officers were called to the area of East Landis Avenue and Main Road for a report of a two-vehicle crash with life-threatening injuries.
They said their investigation revealed a red 2016 Toyota Highlander, which was being driven by 51-year-old Chao J. Lu of Vineland, was headed westbound on E. Landis Ave. when he crossed the center line and struck an eastbound vehicle being driven by 72-year-old Efrain DeLatorre-Valdesp, also of Vineland.
As a result of the crash, DeLatorre was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lu was taken to Inspira Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Another passenger in his vehicle, 54-year-old Sanman Yung, was taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden for further medical treatment.
Ongoing Investigation
The investigation into the accident remains open, and anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has any further information on this case is asked to contact Ofc. Anthony Capelli with the Vineland Police Department’s Traffic Unit at (856) 691-4111.
No charges have been filed at this time.
