An employee of Harborfields Youth Detention Center in Egg Harbor City has been indicted by a grand jury.

30-year-old Marc J. Snead of Vineland is facing one count of second-degree official misconduct.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says Snead was charged this past June following an investigation into the introduction of
contraband items, including cell phones, into Harborfields where Snead was a youth services worker.

Authorities allege Snead provided juveniles in the center with marijuana vape pens in exchange for money received electronically from the friends and family of those in custody.

The case was investigated by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Professional Standards and Accountability Unit with cooperation from the Harborfields Youth Detention Center.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
