Kid Trick or Treating in Stafford Twp NJ Got a Bag of Edibles

Officials warned it might happen. Experts said "no way!"

Well, it happened. In South Jersey. In Southern Ocean County.

Stafford Township Police say a bag of edibles was found in a child's trick-or-treat bag after Trick-or-Treating in the Ocean Acres section of the township. Police say the candy came from somewhere in the Oaks section, near Anchor Avenue.

Edibles are cannabis-based food products. The bag presented by police clearly has listed as the active ingredient, Delta 8 THC. According to the FDA, Delta 8 THC "is a psychoactive substance found in the Cannabis sativa plant, of which marijuana and hemp are two varieties. Delta-8 THC is one of over 100 cannabinoids produced naturally by the cannabis plant but is not found in significant amounts in the cannabis plant. As a result, concentrated amounts of delta-8 THC are typically manufactured from hemp-derived cannabidiol (CBD). "

The FDA says it has psychoactive and intoxicating effects - not the thing you would want to hand out to young children!
