Neil Young and Crazy Horse released the new song “Rainbow of Colors” from their upcoming album Colorado, set to arrive next month and available for pre-order now.

It’s their first LP since 2012’s Psychedelic Pill, and features Nils Lofgren in place of retired guitarist Frank “Poncho” Sampedro.

You can listen to the song below:

“‘Rainbow of Colors’ is a song about the U.S.A. and the whole world,” Young said in a statement. “The idea of this song is that we all belong together. Separating us into races and colors is an old idea whose time has passed.”

Meanwhile, Rolling Stone published an excerpt from new book To Feel the Music: A Songwriter’s Mission to Save High-Quality Audio, in which Young and co-author Phil Baker explored technological issues with sound quality that Young called “a race to the bottom that affects the entire audio industry.”

“The deterioration of quality is not happening with other digital content – only audio,” he wrote. “Digital video and imaging have made amazing progress. Films in the theater and images we take with our cameras –and even our phones – are sharper and clearer than ever. Advances such as image and contrast correction take advantage of digital technologies to increase enjoyment and provide the detail and fine nuances otherwise lost. Why can’t we say the same about audio? To me, something is wrong. As an artist I want my fans to experience the same quality that I experience in the studio. I want fans of other artists to be able to do the same. In this age of technology there is nothing standing in the way of this idea – except greed.”
