If summer 2022 proved one thing here in New Jersey, it's that Garden State residents really like to drink.

Before you jump to any conclusions, you should know that we're not necessarily talking about alcoholic beverages here. But that is a good question, too, so we'll get to that in just a few minutes.

Our original question was simply about the #1 non-alcoholic drink that New Jersey residents reach for more often than any other.

We start there, and we turn to the experts at Eat This, Not That, who regularly tackle questions just like this one, and sure enough, they have an answer for us.

If you guessed Coke or Pepsi, you guessed wrong. If you thought Gatorade or Red Bull, you'd definitely be getting closer.

As a matter of fact, Red Bull is a great answer, but the top non-alcoholic drink in New Jersey is actually Monster Energy, according to the report.

That does make sense. Nobody needs more energy than the people of the Garden State. Now, what about alcoholic beverages?

My first guess was Tito's, but that is not what it is, at least not according to the folks at Upgrade Points. They broke it down into two categories, most popular liquor and most popular brand.

The most popular liquor in the state, according to them, is vodka. But the biggest brand in the state isn't Tito's. It isn't even vodka.

The biggest liquor brand in the state is Johnnie Walker. So we're a little bit of a vodka state and a little bit of a scotch whiskey state, too.
