I love going out for dinner or a concert during the summer season, but of course, when alcohol is involved, you need to realize how dangerous of a risk it is to drink and drive.

It's always a good idea to have a designated driver or leave the car at home and use Uber or Lyft, if you know you're going to have drinks. Don't drink and drive!

Starting this week, New Jersey police will be on the lookout for those who drink and drive as the semi annual "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" program gets underway according to NJ.com.

Police will receive extra funds from The Division of Highway Traffic Safety and will be on the lookout for people who drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol starting this Friday and lasting through Labor Day weekend.

Police in the following South Jersey towns will have additional patrols looking for drivers who are foolish enough to drink and drive.

  • Absecon
  • Atlantic City
  • Egg Harbor Township
  • Galloway
  • Hammonton
  • Hamilton
  • Mullica
  • Cape May Middle Township
  • Cape May Lower Township
  • N. Wildwood

The "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign during the summer of 2018 was responsible for 1,196 DWI arrests and over 1,200 DWI arrests for the 2018 holiday edition which runs from early December through the New Year.
