UPDATE: The Middle Township Police Department has released more information about this incident. According to an updated press release, the first responding officer encountered the man who was wearing only underwear, but then stripped naked. While resisting arrest, the naked subject attempted to remove the officer’s gun from its holster. A second officer arrived and prevented the man from obtaining the gun.

The MTPD has also released information on the injured officers. One officer received a dislocated shoulder, one officer received a head injury, and another officer was treated for glass in his leg.

The subject was charged with attempting to disarm a law enforcement officer, two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, and criminal mischief.

A 17-year-old male, described as being unclothed and causing damage inside of a business, was arrested in Rio Grande Thursday afternoon.

Middle Township Police were called to Fresh Custom Upholstery at 1127 Route 47 South in Rio Grande around 1:45 PM for the report of an out-of-control person. Authorities say officers attempted to place the subject under arrest, however, the subject resisted and it took several officers to place him in custody.

The subject, a seventeen-year-old man, was taken to Cape Regional Medical Center for treatment for minor injuries. Three Middle Township officers were also treated at the same hospital.

Charges are pending against the juvenile.
