Wildwood Police say a man assaulted his ex-girlfriend, then stole her car with their three-year-old son in the car.

The incident reportedly happened just after 2am Tuesday in the City of Wildwood.

Police say the victim briefly got out of her car at a local business, when she was confronted by her ex-boyfriend, Fiberto Urena Jr, 22, of Philadelphia. Police say Urena assaulted her, then jumped in her car and drove off with the couple's three-year-old inside the car.

Police say an investigation led them to believe Urena had driven to Philadelphia, and they were able to work with Philadelphia Police Department. From there, with the help of Philadelphia Police, officers were able to "ensure the well-being of the child and arrangements were made to have the child turned over to the victim’s family."

Urena, though, has not been located, and remains on the run.

Police have charged Urena with Carjacking and Simple Domestic Violence Assault.

Police are asking anyone with information on the case, or Urena's whereabouts to come forward. Wildwood Police can be reached at (609) 522-0222. Witnesses can also call the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office at (609) 465-2800.
