Should Punxsutawney Phil Officially Retire?

Besides the Big Game, Groundhog Day 2020 is also coming this Sunday. Will we have an early spring or six more weeks of winter? Only Punxsutawney Phil knows for sure.

Not everybody is happy with the worlds most-famous groundhog once again making his annual winter or spring predictions.

According to the Washington Post, the People for the Ethical treatment of Animals, better known as PETA, want to see Punxsutawney Phil ride or waddle into the sunset and officially retire for good.

The animal rights organization wants Phil to be able to dig, burrow and forage in peace and without the bright lights, cameras and publicity that Phil has to endure every year at this time. Phil is also kept busy by having to hit the road and makes appearances at local schools.

PETA suggests replacing Phil with artificial intelligence and start introducing an AI version of Phil.
