South Jersey School Part of Wreaths Across America Pilgrimage

Students at one South Jersey school are pulling together supplies for wreaths that will be added to a convoy that lays them on the graves of fallen veterans at Arlington National Cemetery. 

The non-profit group Wreaths Across America, that works to bring awareness of veterans' sacrifices with wreath-laying ceremonies and other events, reached out to officials at Harrison Elementary School since their 2019 trip from Maine to Virginia was routed through Harrison Twp. It's essentially the 'world's largest veterans parade', reports Courier Post.

After supervisor of instruction Chad Flexon got the call from Wreaths in August, the project essentially reshaped the school year, as most of the 765 students (ages pre-school through third grade) worked with teachers and administrators on veteran-themed projects, including one wreath made from green trash bags and a hula hoop.

School staff even delegated a bulletin board with photos of family members who have or are serving in the military.
