We have become accustomed to certain stores and chains operating in a ton of locations in New Jersey. Some are less than a mile from each other. I don't mind most of them, but that's just one man's opinion. For example...

Wawa

I've never heard anyone say "there are too many Wawas in Jersey."

Dunkin'

Jersey is the most densely populated state in the U.S. Plus, we need our caffeine. Therefore, there can never be a Dunkin' overload.

Quick Chek

Quick Chek subs are nothing to laugh at. You can fuel up and snack up 24/7. Nothing wrong with that.

Starbucks

For my coffee snobs, I present Starbucks. Kidding! Whether you're team Dunkin' or team 'Bucks, it's coffee and we need a lot of it.

McDonald's

Need a quick lunch or a late-night snack? The golden arches always please. I especially love the 24-hour locations.

There is another chain that seems to be taking over Jersey at record speed, though.

Now, don't get me wrong. There's nothing wrong with Dollar General. According to their website, there are currently 12 Dollar Generals in Jersey. I was surprised that number was so low. Doesn't it seem like there are more?

The discount chain seems to be focusing on Ocean County for its expansion. As a matter of fact, there's about to be a fourth Dollar General built in the same township. Manchester Township already has three DGs. They are in the process of building another in the Whiting section.

Dollar General says they are planning to remodel, relocate or open 2,900 stores across the U.S. by the end of the year. There are many locations in the process of being built across the state.

I guess what I'm saying is how many Dollar Generals do we need?

Why can't we get more Cracker Barrels? Or in some parts of the state a Cracker Barel?
