Two NJ $1Million Winners in Tuesday’s Mega Millions Lottery
There are two new millionaires in New Jersey today after Tuesday night's Mega Millions Lottery drawing.
According to the Mega Millions website, the winning numbers were 0-19-26-28-50 and megaball 16. The Megaplier was 2x.
Although no one grabbed the grand prize, 2 tickets in New Jersey tickets matched all five white balls to win million-dollar prizes. Both tickets were sold in North Jersey.
The two $1 million Mega Millions tickets were purchased at stores in Wallington, Bergen County and Sparta, Sussex County, NJ., according to the New Jersey Lottery website.
Each Mega Millions ticket costs $2 and winners must match six numbers, including the Mega Ball, to take home the full sum.
Two tickets sold in Florida had the Megaplier to win $2 million each. Overall, eleven $1 million tickets were sold including the two in New Jersey, California, Illinois, Kansas, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, Washington and Florida.
The jackpot was an estimated $865 million with a cash option of $638.8 million. No one matched all six numbers so the estimated jackpot will rise to $970 million for Friday night's drawing. The cash option will be $716.3 million.
Friday's jackpot will be the second-largest jackpot in the history of Mega Millions. The largest Mega Millions prize was $1.537 billion on Oct. 23, 2018.
Of course, another massive lottery jackpot is pending tonight. The Powerball drawing is worth a projected $730 million, the fourth largest in that game's history and the sixth largest in American history.
It's the first time both lotteries have topped $700 million simultaneously.
The largest U.S. lottery prize ever was a $1.58 billion Powerball jackpot won by three players in 2016.
The odds of winning a jackpot are overwhelmingly slim at 1 in 302.5 million for Mega Millions and 1 in 292.2 million for Powerball.
