Video Shows Small Plane Crashing Off Long Beach Island

A small banner plane crashed into the ocean off Surf City Saturday afternoon, but the pilot was rescued.

Surf City Police respond to the crash at 3:20pm off the 13th Street beach.

When police arrived, two Surf City lifeguards, Scott Meggitt and Charles Orborne had already rescued the pilot and were bringing him back to shore.

The pilot, who has not been identified, was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
