It can be tempting to believe in deals you may see floating around the internet.

It's always important to remember to do your research before you sign up for anything. There is a Facebook post going around that appears to be from Costco for a $75 coupon in celebration of the store's 50th Anniversary. Once users click on the coupon link, they are prompted to enter personal information, such as their full name, address and phone number, and then are required to fill out surveys. Costco posted a warning on its official Facebook page that this coupon is a hoax.

Whenever you see a post that could be considered too good to be true, always check to make sure it's coming from the official page of the company offering the deal. Scammers often use look-alike pages to fool people. Today.com also warns users to watch out for errors in spelling and grammar - these are also indicators of hoax posts. It's important to be safe online!
