Authorities are asking for the public's help as they continue to investigate the shooting death of an Atlantic City man who was found inside of a vehicle Friday.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says ACPD officers responded to the beach block of Melrose Avenue around 5:30 Friday evening after they received a 911 call about an unconscious and unresponsive male. The victim was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center - City Division where he was pronounced dead.

The victim has been identified as 53-year-old Jeffrey Simpson of Atlantic City, who is also known as Rasheed Abdullah.

An autopsy has determined Simpson died from multiple gunshot wounds.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office is looking for assistance in identifying any suspicious activity surrounding a white Chevrolet sedan with tinted windows that was in the area of Melrose and North Maine Avenues for several hours Friday afternoon.

“We urge everyone who may have been in the area to contact the Prosecutor’s office if they witnessed or heard anything that could assist in the apprehension of the person responsible for this homicide,” Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner said in a press release.
