The Atlantic City Police Department is asking for your help locating a man who is wanted for allegedly shooting a woman early Friday morning.

Cops say just before 3:30 Friday morning, ACPD officers responded to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Division for a report of a woman that had walked into the emergency department with a gunshot wound. The victim, identified only as being 34-years-old and from Atlantic City, sustained a non-life-threatening injury in the incident in the first block of South Florida Avenue.

According to authorities, an investigation conducted by detectives of the Violent Crimes Unit led to the identification of 42-year-old James Burton, a.k.a. Ronnie Jones, of Atlantic City, as the person responsible for shooting the victim.

Burton has been charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Charges are mere accusations, and the accused are considered innocent until proven guilty.
