Blackwood Denny’s Restaurant Demolished, Making Way for Chipotle
The Denny's Restaurant on Blackwood-Clementon Rd. in Blackwood, Gloucester Twp. is being reduced to a pile of rubble.
In a project that was rumored, and then seemingly stalled, the demolition of Denny's (across from Royal Farms) will reportedly make way for an entirely new structure being built by Chipotle Mexican Grill.
Denny's is one of several restaurants along this stretch of road in Blackwood to close over the last few years. Among them Pizza Hut, Friendly's, Nifty Fifty's, and The Stone Grill.
It was just confirmed last week that Wawa is hoping to built a superstore with gas station just down the road from this former Denny's, taking over the space next to Rita's Water Ice where Entenmann's Bakery used to be.
Chipotle Mexican Grill has been expanding in South Jersey. In addition to it's Deptford location, there's now a restaurant in Sewell, one in Sicklerville., and one about to open in Egg Harbor Twp., Atlantic County.
Given the fact that I was just in the neighborhood near this Denny's over the weekend and the fencing had just gone up around it, it would appear the process of building a the new Chipotle is rapidly moving forward. I hope to share more photos with you of the building process in the coming weeks.
