Chipotle, Taco Bell to Open in Somers Point

Two popular fast food restaurants plan to open new locations in Somers Point this year.

As rumored, Chipotle Mexican Grill will take over in the shuttered Boston Market location on Rt. 9. The Press of Atlantic City reports the restaurant is planning a fall 2020 opening.

Chipotle Mexican Grill opened in Colorado in 1993 and has increased its footprint to 2300 locations nationally, including in one Mays Landing.

At one time in the late 1990's, Chipotle Mexican Grill and Boston Market were both under the ownership control of McDonald's, before McDonald's chose to divest all of its non-core business restaurants in 2006.

As we first told you on Jan.13, paperwork from a Somers Point zoning meeting  in 2019 shows a plan to construct a Taco Bell across the street on the site of McNaughton's Garden Center parking lot.

There's is no timetable for the Taco Bell opening.
