Phillies’ Zack Wheeler has Procedure on Fingernail
Phillies right-handed pitcher Zack Wheeler had a resection procedure done back on Oct. 12 to help fix his right middle fingernail the team announced today.
Wheeler, as many might recall, injured the finger nail while putting on a pair of pants, causing him to miss one start.
While he did injure the fingernail this season, he has had similar issues in the past, so hopefully this procedure will help prevent it from recurring.
He is fully expected to be ready for the start of spring training in February.
The 30-year-old free agent finished the first of his five-year, $118 million deal, going 4-2 and posted a 2.92 ERA, 1.169 WHIP in his 11 starts.
