Report: Angles Have Interest in Didi Gregorius
If the Phillies are planning on bringing back shortstop Didi Gregorius, they are going to have some competition.
According to George A. King III of the New York Post the Yankees could be interested in a reunion, but the Los Angels Angels also have their eye on the 30-years old.
The Angels have an interest in the left-handed hitting Gregorius, who will turn 31 in February.
Gregorius signed with the Phillies before last season, getting a 1-year, $14 million deal and responded with a solid year, hitting .284 with 10 homers and 40 RBIs, playing in all 60 games.
He was available after the Yankees let him go. During the 2019 in New York, he hit .238 with 16 homers and 61 RBIs in 82 games, missing half the season because of Tommy John surgery.
The Phillies could look to bring him back with a two-year deal, with their top shortstop prospect Bryson Stott, the 14th pick in the 2019 draft 23-years old. Stott is estimated to be Major League ready around 2022. If they let him walk, they could shift Jean Segura back to short for a season, with Alec Bohm playing third base.
