The plastic bag ban continues to spread throughout South Jersey like wildfire.

The next town to jump on the Go Green bandwagon is Somers Point!

The town originally allowed businesses to provide customers with plastic bags as long as they charged a $.05 fee for each one.

But now this rule has been eliminated and plastic bags will no longer be allowed.

Businesses will have 120 days to make the switch before the ban officially goes into affect.

If businesses violate this new rule after the grace period, there are usually some pretty hefty fines attached.

Other businesses who were charging plastic bag fees were donating it to charity but overall the switch happened because of the amount of pollution that ends up in our waters being located so close to the ocean.

Let the plastic ban thrive and continue to spread.
