A 34-year-old Vineland man has been charged in connection to a fatal accident on Route 40 in Mays Landing Tuesday morning.

Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner says around 7AM, Hamilton Township Police responded to a three car crash on Route 40 at Meadowbrook Drive.

A preliminary investigation found a Kia Forte was traveling east on Route 40 when it was struck from behind by a 2012 Volkswagen Golf. The impact pushed the Kia into oncoming traffic where it was struck on the passenger side by a 2012 International Truck.

The driver of the Kia vehicle, 56-year-old Little Grier of Mays Landing, was pronounced dead at an area hospital. Grier was a longtime and current support employee of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

The driver of the International Truck, 51-year-old Amed Feliciano of Hammonton, was not hurt in the accident.

The driver of the Volkswagen, 34-year-old Eduardo Ibanez-Sanchez of Vineland, who had a suspended New Jersey Driver’s License according to authorities, was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.

Ibanez-Sanchez has been charged with being involved in a fatal motor vehicle crash while operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and operating a motor vehicle during a period of license suspension for violation of driving while intoxicated.

In a statement, Tyner said, "We were incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of our friend and colleague, Jeff Grier. Jeff was undoubtedly one of the kindest, most selfless people I have ever encountered. While members of our agency are trained to respond to tragic events in the normal course of their duties, it is never “normal” when you respond to an incident where a colleague or family member has sustained fatal injuries. We join Jeff’s family and friends in the mourning of his loss."
