While Need Increases, Vineland Soup Kitchen is Vandalized
As the staff at the Vineland Soup Kitchen deals with an increased need for the daily support they provide to the food insecure in Vineland, they now face another challenge.
Now there's a repair bill for a window broken when a rock was thrown through it by vandals early Saturday morning.
The Vineland Soup Kitchen estimates the bill for the window to be between $500-$650.
That's money they don't have as the need for hot meals is expected to increase to approximately 200 each day. In a Facebook post, the Vineland Soup Kitchen pointed out additional expenses.
Recently we purchased additional paper products (take out containers, plastic ware, napkins, etc). Our bill was in excess of $1500 for only one month of supplies. We are also using 150 bottles of water daily!
According to the Press of Atlantic City, Vineland Police have a video of a man in the act, but his face is covered by a mask.
Nothing was taken inside the soup kitchen.
Here is the message posted on Facebook by the Vineland Soup Kitchen....
During the COVID -19 pandemic, the Vineland Soup Kitchen, Spirit & Truth Ministries, Inc is continuing its mission of feeding the hungry in the Vineland community. More than 140 hot nutritious lunches are prepared daily and then brought to the street to serve our homeless and food insecure patrons-all in keeping with the guidelines of social distancing. With no end to the virus in sight, we are anticipating a dramatic increase in numbers possibly climbing to near 200. With the limited resources available, we are seeking your support. Any donation small or large is not only needed but very much appreciated during these difficult times.

Yesterday brought us a devastating incident, a rock was thrown through our storage unit window, causing another bill of at least $500. We are in need of your help to continue taking care of the needy. Again any donation – regardless of amount- is appreciated. With gratitude for your consideration!
