Writer/Director Aaron Sorkin Filming Movie Scenes in New Jersey
Writer/director Aaron Sorkin is working on a new movie called The Trial of the Chicago 7, and he's filming scenes at two New Jersey colleges.
The story, follows the 1969 trial of a group of men charged with conspiracy and inciting a riot after a Vietnam War protest outside the Democratic National Convention in Chicago turned violent, involving police, the National Guard, and the Army.
Sorkin reportedly shot several scenes for the film on Tuesday and Wednesday at Fairleigh Dickinson University's Florham campus. Production will move to the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown on Thursday, according to NJ.com.
Sorkin is no stranger turning politics into fiction, having brought to life projects like The West Wing, A Few Good Men, The American President, The Newsroom, and The Social Network.
The Trial of the Chicago 7 features an all-star cast that includes Eddie Redmayne, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Keaton, Sacha Baron Cohen, William Hurt, Mark Rylance, and New Jersey native Frank Langella. It is expected to hit theaters in October 2020, as it currently states on iMDb.
