New Jersey Is Home to a Dog Sanctuary for Senior Dogs

My heart just cannot take this. Let's all let out a collective "awe," because you'll be doing a lot of that right now. New Jersey has it's very own dog sanctuary that houses senior dogs. Like I said, awe. Marty's Place in Upper Freehold Township has become a safe haven for dogs over the age of 7.

According to their website, "...[They] physical and emotional comfort, companionship and enrichment they need to thrive in their golden years. At Marty’s Place, they find a home for life." Marty's Place all started with a senior dog named Marty who was rescued just a day before he was to be euthanized by the shelter he was living at. The family that later adopted him created Marty's Place in honor of the lovable dog.

Marty's Place serves as an adoption center, sanctuary, and a swim center for senior dogs. They are home to a wide variety of dogs, some of which you can adopt, some of which are life residents.

Since they are handling senior dogs, the adoption process is a bit different than your average adoption. "...[Many] of our dogs have prescribed health care plans based on specific needs. While it may seem like our process is lengthy, we take great care to find the best matches that are mutually beneficial to the dog and family..."

Currently there are 13 dogs available for adoption.

Quincy: 13-year-old beagle mix

Sasha: 8-year-old husky

Bella: 10-year-old shepherd mix
