Well, that was quick. No sooner was Margate's prepared foods store, Done...well, done and out of business, than a new business with a fresh approach to the prepared foods idea has taken over.

PRIME Steak & Seafood Market opened on Wednesday at 8007 Ventnor Avenue in Margate, in the location where Done, the offshoot of Margate's Tomatoes restaurant, closed last week.

As Done did, Prime Steak & Seafood Market will focus on prepared meats, seafood, and side dishes, prepared by Chef Russ, the Done chef who was held over by the new owners.

Steve and Rachel Bachman, a local Margate couple involved in real estate sales, take over with PRIME, using Steve's background in the Culinary arts learned in the Navy to branch out as local business owners, according to his wife.

They say the menu at PRIME Steak & Seafood will rotate from day to day.

On Wednesday, when I stopped in, options included pork ribs, brisket, blackened salmon, roasted potatoes, asparagus, cheddar chive potato salad, roast potatoes, and crème brulée donuts for dessert.

Rachel Bachman told me there are plans for PRIME to also offer ready-to-cook items like marinated steak, u-peel shrimp, and crab.

She said the couple has been working for the last 6-8 months to take over the business and they wanted to open as soon as possible to get PRIME ready for the busy summer season.

PRIME Steak & Seafood will also offer catering.

I am already making plans to skip cooking one day next week and let PRIME Steak & Seafood make dinner for the family.
